It depends on where you fish.
- Lake Hagnauer (in camp): You only need a free Camp Alexander fishing permit. You get it at the fishing orientation Sunday evening, or by stopping by the Camp Office to go over the rules.
- South Platte River frontage: You need the camp permit, and anyone 16 or older also needs a Colorado fishing license. You can buy one in Lake George, or online from Colorado Parks and Wildlife before you come. Licenses for the new year go on sale March 1, so buy one that’s good for this summer. Check out at the Camp Office before heading to the river, and Scouts need an adult with them the whole time (no one-on-one).
Both spots are catch and release only, with barbless hooks and flies or lures. No live bait, PowerBait, salmon eggs or treble hooks. You can fish during daylight hours, and every Scout needs a buddy.
