Getting to Camp Alexander
Directions, drive times, and tips for the trip. Camp is about 2 to 2½ hours from downtown Denver, and troops drive in from as far as Dallas.
Plan your trip
Most of our troops travel to get here. Nine out of ten come from outside our home council, and more than half drive in from Texas. Here’s what helps the trip go smoothly.

From Colorado Springs, take US-24 west through Woodland Park to Lake George. Turn left at the corner store onto County Road 96 into Eleven Mile Canyon. When you reach the Pike National Forest fee station, tell them you’re with Camp Alexander and they’ll let you through.
Cell service fades on the way in, so download your directions or an offline map before you leave Lake George.

Get ready for 8,200 feet
Many out-of-state troops spend Saturday night in Colorado Springs or Woodland Park, so they arrive rested and a little more used to the altitude.
Starting a month before camp, work up to about 4 liters of water a day. Altitude and hydration tips
