Getting ready
Do at home
Requirement 4. This can't be done at camp. The Scout finishes it with a merit badge counselor in your council, before or after camp. Camp records everything the Scout completes here.
Read the Aviation merit badge requirements and the Space Exploration merit badge requirements on scouting.org.
About the badges
Aviation
The Aviation merit badge introduces Scouts to the world of flight. Scouts learn the principles of aviation, explore aircraft parts and operations, and discover careers in the field, along with flight safety, navigation, and the science behind how airplanes fly.
Space Exploration
Scouts learn how rockets work, build and launch a model rocket, and explore the history and future of space travel, from the first launches to planning a mission of their own.
Signing up
Your unit leader registers each Scout for classes in MyCouncil when your week's registration opens in late April. Classes fill up, so list a second and third choice for each session.
