About the badges
Geology
Geology is the study of Earth: the materials that make it up, the processes that change it, and the history of how things happened, including human civilization, which depends on natural materials. Scouts discuss rock formations and how they shape our world.
Mining in Society
This merit badge introduces the vital role mining plays in everyday life and the global economy. Scouts explore how minerals and metals are extracted, processed, and used in products they rely on daily, along with safety, environmental stewardship, and careers in mining.
Signing up
Your unit leader registers each Scout for classes in MyCouncil when your week's registration opens in late April. Classes fill up, so list a second and third choice for each session.
