Draft: may still change

Lifesaving prepares Scouts to assist those involved in water accidents. Scouts learn basic rescue techniques, the skills to perform them, and the judgment to know when and how to act so they are prepared for emergencies.

Getting ready

Swim test

Pass the Scouting America Swimmer Classification before the first class: before camp with a certified tester, or at the swim check at the pool after check-in on Sunday. Not sure your Scout will pass? Test before camp, so classes can be changed before you arrive.

What to upload if you test at home

A Scout who hasn't passed it can't take the class.

Read the Lifesaving merit badge requirements on scouting.org.

Signing up

Your unit leader registers each Scout for classes in MyCouncil when your week's registration opens in late April. Classes fill up, so list a second and third choice for each session.
